I enjoyed the movie Wicked at the cinema yesterday. “Defying Gravity,” beautifully and powerfully sung by Cynthia Erivo, has been stuck in my head ever since.
Now, sitting in a coffee shop and looking out at the rainy, empty intersection, I’m shifting my focus to my weekly reflection.
Here’s how my week 1,521 unfolded.

1. What I read.

The quote that stuck with me:
Anti-discrimination and equal-pay laws have been on most countries’ books for decades. In 2017 Britain started forcing big companies to publish wage-gap data; the eu and Japan have followed. Ten American states have laws. requiring employers to disclose pay in job advertisements. Yet the gap remains, and in some countries, such as Australia and Japan, is growing.
2. Who I saw.
I reunited with some of my seminar classmates from university after several years.
It was past 9:30 p.m. on a weekday when the LINE group chat, which includes both my class and the one above (senpai), updated for the first time in nearly a year, and my phone lit up. The message said, “We’re drinking right now, and anyone who can come, please do!”
Normally, I wouldn’t respond to such a casual, open invitation, but I had a feeling that if I missed this opportunity, I wouldn’t be able to see these friends for a while. So, I quickly changed out of my pajamas and left the house.
The little details I observed:
When we met, I was surprised to realize that everyone remembered me well from back in the day.
During university, I juggled several part-time jobs, so I rarely met up with classmates outside of class. My connection to the university community was quite limited, yet it was a pleasant surprise to find that others had kept such positive memories of me.
It was a humbling reminder of how even small interactions can leave a lasting, unexpected impression on others.
3. What I created.
A Guide to Debugging Apple Pay: Authentication, Tokens, Encryption, and Processing Errors
The story behind it:
This year at work, I’ve shifted my focus toward learning through “delivery” rather than just “absorption.” I firmly believe the idea that knowing something is one thing, but actually delivering it is a completely different challenge. In other words, even if you know something inside and out, it doesn’t serve its purpose if you fail to deliver it effectively.
To start, I focused on what I’m most familiar with: troubleshooting technical issues related to wallet payment methods, particularly Apple Pay.
Next Week’s Peek — What I’m looking forward to and why
Next week, I anticipate fewer unexpected events, so I plan to use this opportunity to get back into my usual writing routine. I’m also hoping to carve out some time for long-term planning, which I’ve been putting off.
With the first quarter nearing its end, next week feels like the perfect moment to refocus and make steady progress on both short-term tasks and long-term goals.
Hope you had a great week.
Catch you next week!
