A week with many great catch-ups. I felt grateful for the connections I’ve made and nurtured over time. Although I’m not very extroverted and socializing isn’t always my favorite thing to do (according to the MBTI test, it’s almost 50/50), I truly enjoyed and was present in each of the chats I had.
Here’s how the week unfolded…
1. What I read.
I finished reading the book I was reading last week. It was a great read.
The quote that stuck with me:
“Boldly escape from violence that exceeds your tolerance level. If necessary, engage with others while being aware of the ‘violence’ in meeting them.” (許容レベルを超えた暴力からは堂々と逃げる。必要だと思ったら、「会うことの暴力性」を自覚したうえで他人と関わっていく。) — p.234
2. Who I saw.
I reconnected with a few people, but the most insightful conversation was with someone I had worked with during my college years. Together, we hosted a summer program for U.S. college students visiting Japan.
The little details I observed:
Although we hadn’t seen each other since I graduated and had been distant online, we found our circles surprisingly close. As I shared my recent updates, he could guess the names of the people I was talking about. I’ve always known him to be an excellent networker, but this conversation reminded me of just how skilled he is at building and maintaining meaningful relationships. I have a feeling our paths may cross again at some point.
3. What I created.
I wrote a reflection piece for my 2nd work anniversary.
The story behind it:
Last week marked my 2nd anniversary at my current job. Two years in the payments industry have flown by, and while I still feel like there’s so much more to learn in this fast-evolving field, I decided to take a moment to reflect on the lessons and growth I’ve experienced so far.
Next Week’s Peek — What I’m looking forward to and why

I will be spending the week in Singapore. The main agenda is to undergo training on platform monitoring, which is a responsibility handled by a different team. I’m excited to get cross-trained outside of my current role and am hopeful that this will lead to some exciting opportunities in the future.
Hope you had a great week.
Catch you next week!
